If a trip to the mountains is in your future this winter, here’s something new to check out!

Beech Mountain Resort, about four hours from Raleigh, has built a new state-of-the-art snow tubing park. The lighted park, according to a press release, sits next to the ice skating rink in the resort village and features long runs with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The tubing park will be open during the day and in the evening. Guests are not required to have a lift ticket to snow tube. Sessions begin every two hours. It costs $25 weekdays and $30 on weekends and holidays.

The resort has installed snow guns (SMI Super PoleCast snow guns, to be specific) to ensure there’s enough snow for tubing at the park. Eleven more have been added elsewhere on the slopes, including on White Lightning, a black diamond run.

Also new at Beech Mountain: Upgrades to the two main chair lifts, a renovated bar and grill and an entirely new rental fleet of Burton snowboards. The resort opened for the season over the weekend.
