About Our Mountain

Beech Mountain Resort opened in 1967. Beech Mountain Resort is the highest ski area east of the Rockies, and we continually reach for new heights. Each offseason brings a wave of upgrades, improvements, renovations and new amenities.  The past three years we have made substantial upgrades to our resort including complete renovations on our rentals and ski school buildings, band new ticket booths and remodel of the Beech Mountain Brewing Company. Beech Mountain Resort in only of the only ski areas in the United States to have its own brewery located centrally in the village of the resort and to have a one of a kind Sky Bar, 5506’, located at the summit of our mountain.  This summer Beech Mountain Resort is installing TWO new quad lifts that will greatly increase our uphill capacity.

Cultural Benefits

There are many cultural benefits to being a J1 Student at Beech Mountain Resort including:

Learning about US culture, cross-cultural skills in a globalized world, working in new environments, continued connections with the US and making new friends.

The town of Boone, the closest large town, is located in the northwest corner of North Carolina, nestled in the Blue Ridge mountains about 3,300 feet above sea level. The local population is just below 13,500. The region is nicknamed ‘The High Country’ for its mountainous terrain.  Boone is the home of Appalachian State University, one of the fastest growing universities in North Carolina. Boone is also home to several restaurants, museums, music venues and craft breweries including Appalachian Brewing Company, Lost Province, Booneshine Brewing Company and Blowing Rock Brewing Company.

Beech Mountain Resort is quickly becoming on the of hottest concert venues in the South East.  Each season we book a variety of musical acts from different genres. Employees can enjoy the majority of these concerts free of charge.  During ski season we have live music every Friday and Saturday night at the resort.

If you are an employee of Beech Mountain Resort, you will receive a free season pass, equipment rentals and lessons when available.
