KG’s Ripple Effect Award

On Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, we are once again hosting our annual Runs for Buns event! All proceeds and donations from this event go to the Colon Cancer Coalition, an organization that holds a special place amongst our Beech Mountain Family.

Named in loving memory of Kelly-Grier Costin, a beloved member of the Beech Mountain Resort family, the KG Ripple Effect Award holds deep significance. Kelly-Grier Costin valiantly faced a spirited three-year battle with colon cancer before she passed away on March 19, 2021. Her enduring spirit and resilience have become the guiding light for this meaningful award, ensuring that her legacy continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by colon cancer.

You have the power to contribute to this meaningful celebration by nominating someone you believe exemplifies the qualities honored by the KG Ripple Effect Award. Whether it’s a survivor who has faced the challenges of colon cancer with resilience, a healthcare worker whose compassion knows no bounds, or a volunteer dedicated to making a difference in the community, your nominations play a crucial role. Last year’s recipient was Wayne Miller, a Blowing Rock resident and owner of Footsloggers. Wayne is a 30-year survivor of colon cancer and continues to support our community by serving on the board of the Western Youth Network and donating to local charities.
