Lift #2 Clears the way for more skiable acres

Beech Mountain, N.C.- Prior to the 1977/1978 ski season, Beech Mountain Resort installed the #2 Borvig double chair. The lift, which had modest usage throughout the years, has been removed. The removal has resulted in a major increase in the skiable surface on Robbin’s Run and Southern Star. “This was a major decision we felt would really improve our terrain offerings”, said Ryan Costin, Beech Mountain’s General Manager. He believes, “With the lack of usage throughout the years, we knew it was time for a change.” The terminals and the towers have been removed and graded accordingly. Included in the removal, the race building located on the road above Robbins’s Run, has also been eliminated. Southern Star will now flow into the Crossover Run and have easy access to other terrain.
