Bike Patroller

POSITION SUMMARY
Bike Patrollers monitor and maintain all trails and signage, respond to incidents, provide medical care and
transportation as well as provide excellent customer service.
Work bikes are NOT provided – you must be able to provide your own mountain bike.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
▪ Primary duty to patrol, monitor, and maintain all trails and signage, enforcing ticketing and park rules
▪ Maintain first-aid equipment and response bags, administer first-aid when necessary
▪ Document incidents requiring first-aid
▪ Communicate effectively with team and operational partners to ensure a reasonably safe environment
▪ Provide information and assistance to guests when needed
▪ Assist with transportation of guests via ATV, van or truck
▪ Performing sweeps at the end of the day to ensure that all guests are off the mountain
▪ Assist Instructor team with lesson operations, teach lessons when needed
▪ Trail maintenance as required daily. Experience using shovels, saws, hammers, and other common
trail work and construction tools preferred
▪ Attend required orientation and training sessions
▪ Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
▪ Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Previous patrol experience, preferred
▪ Read and write in the English language; Spanish a plus
▪ Must have a valid driver’s license and meet insurability standards
▪ Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with
Beech Mountain Resort’s Code of Conduct

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
▪ High school education or GED strongly preferred
▪ Valid/current Outdoor Emergency Care, Wilderness First Responder or North Carolina EMT
Credential; CPR required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
▪ Must be minimum 18 years of age
▪ Downhill mountain bike at a high level of proficiency
▪ Will work outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme mountain weather
▪ Stand and ride a bike for long periods of time
▪ Lift approximately 75 pounds (O2 bottles, equipment, injured guests)

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to harsh and varying
outside weather conditions.
Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
