This position works exclusively with our Alpine Ski Team, who are members of Beech Mountain Academy. Practices are held on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Beech Mountain Academy is an inclusive team of young athletes (ages 5-18) dedicated to ski racing, free skiing, and snowboarding. We have a passion for winter sports. Through programs that instill values such as goal setting, discipline, sportsmanship, work ethic, determination, commitment, and fun, our athletes are prepared to compete in local, regional, and national events. Beech Mountain Academy is affiliated with the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), the Southern Alpine Racing Association (SARA), and the High Country Junior Race Series (HCJRS). We welcome all athletes with the desire to learn and grow. All athletes must be at phase 2 or higher to apply for the team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a positive, memorable experience for athletes and staff by teaching snow sports in a safe and fun learning environment.
- Create quality experiences for our athletes and staff by showing empathy and care.
- Show interest in snow sports education by attending mandatory and optional training clinics and workshops both inside and outside the resort.
- Maintain the highest level of professionalism by adhering to uniform requirements and grooming policies, and demonstrating loyalty to our athletes and company.
Requirements or Qualifications:
- Experienced skier with an understanding of skiing techniques, skills, competitions (including but not limited to Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Ski Cross), and course setup.
- Ability to work well with peers and athletes, with a passion for personal growth in snow sports, and driven to see athletes grow and excel in their chosen discipline.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Must have 4WD, AWD, or snow chains and the ability to drive in inclement weather.
