It’s a beautiful morning on Beech Mountain, so Yoga will go on as planned!  Melissa Reaves will play at 5506′ at 3:30pm.  The rain location will be in the Beech Mountain Brewing Co.  Please continue to check the homepage for updates. 

Thursday, June 25th

Volunteer Trail Work Day (12pm-5pm):

VoluAre you seeking a volunteer opportunity? Beech Mountain Resort has just that! Helping to clear mountain bike trails allows you to enjoy the outdoors on the slopes, get some exercise, meet great people, and enjoy a complimentary Beech Mountain Brewing Co. beer at the end of the day. Check in at the Beech Mountain Brewing Co. between 12pm and 3pm.

Celebrating Our Locals (12pm-7pm):

BM Brewing Co.Every Thursday, in the brewery, we offer $4.00 pints all day long. Come down to the brewery for handcrafted beer, good conversation, and meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff.

 

Friday, June 26th 

OZ Tours (times vary):

LAND_OF_OZDon’t miss out on the final summer opportunity to visit the Land of Oz, located atop Beech Mountain! This Friday, the Town of Beech Mountain will host tours in the Land of Oz.  Beech Mountain Resort will provide scenic lift rides for transportation to meet Dorothy (your tour guide). Purchase lift tickets in Ski Beech Sports, located in the resort village, for $10 (cash or credit cards). Tickets for the tour also cost $10 (cash or check only) and money will be received by Dorothy. Another tour time has been added for this weekend due to the popularity of the event. Tour times are: 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 (please ride the lift at least 15 minutes before tour time). Tours are limited to 75 people per tour, on a first-come, first-serve basis and spots are reserved via check-in at Ski Beech Sports. It is strongly advised to arrive early to guarantee a tour time.

 Saturday, June 27th

Bottoms Up Yoga (10:30am-11:30am):

yogaOn Saturdays, Bottoms Up Yoga returns. Get your Namaste on, with a relaxing yoga class at 5,506 feet! Jenna Thompson, a local yogi extraordinaire, will help soothe your mind, body and soul as she leads participants in Vinyasa practice.

Classes are on Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am. The cost of class is $15 which includes a lift ticket. Lift tickets can be purchased in Ski Beech Sports, located in the resort village. Grab a lift ride by 10:15! Yoga mats are limited, so please bring your own.

Summer Music Series (3:30-6:30pm):

MelissaMelissa Reeves will be performing live at 5506’. Come listen to an artist who is known to audiences throughout the US and Europe for her avant-garde, fire-driven, deconstructionist approach to rock-n-roll. Food, drinks, spectacular views and live music will certainly provide for a wonderful afternoon. This is a family-friendly event, so come out and enjoy time at the highest bar and restaurant in the high country.

Kiddo Fishing Derby (9:00am-12pm):

FISHING-KIDS-CONTEST-1Every year, kids from all around compete for the title of the best angler on Beech Mountain. Buckeye Recreation Center, host of the event, provides different categories and prizes; bring the kids out to try their hand at Lake Coffey, a stocked lake. This competition is for children 12 and under, and no fishing license is required. Kids are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear. Limited poles and tackle will be available.  Call 828-387-3003 for more information.

Afterwards, stop by Beech Mountain Resort and take a scenic lift ride up to 5506’ for lunch and stay for live music. Beech Mountain will provide a coupon to each angler for a complimentary lift ride (with a paid adult ticket) valid for Saturday, June 27th only.

 Saturday July 4th

Fireworks & 47th Annual Roasting of the Hog (5:30pm – until dark):

fireworksCelebrate Independence Day weekend in Eastern America’s highest town! Beech Mountain’s 47th annual Roasting of the Hog festival takes place Saturday, July 4, in front of the View Haus in the play yard at Beech Mountain Resort. Activities start at 5:30 p.m. and will certainly continue well into the evening.

This fun-filled event includes: a DJ on hand to play all your favorites from yesterday and today; slow roasted, pit-cooked barbecue pork and smoked turkey breast; all the trimmings; face painting; raffle, and a bake sale.  In addition, Beech Mountain’s Park & Recreation Department will provide a kid’s play area plenty of fun activities.

Fireworks begin shortly after dark. And, the resort’s Beech Mountain Brewing Company will be open as well.

Advance tickets are $15 for ages eight and up, and $7.50 for ages seven and under. Those prices rise to $20 and $10 at the gate. Tickets are available online at www.BeechMountainChamber.com.
