Beer tasting, championship mountain biking, live music and scenic views are on tap Saturday, July 21, at Beech Mountain Resort.
The second annual Brews and Views Festival is being held in conjunction with the three- day USA Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships. Attendees can sample from more than 40 craft brews, enjoy music from three bands, and watch top professional and amateur mountain bikers compete for national titles.
Lift rides showcasing views of the races and the Blue Ridge Mountains will be available, as well as activities for all ages. Youth activities include a kids village with games and inflatables, plus a bike rodeo for a chance to win a specialized youth mountain bike.
The music stage features performances from: The Shane Pruitt Band, a noted blues group from Spartanburg, S.C.; Enemy Lovers, an indie rock band from Asheville; and modern bluegrass sensation Brushfire Stankgrass of Asheville.
Of course, there will be plenty of craft beers to taste, including: Blowing Rock Summer Ale, Southern Tier Hop Sun, Krombacher, Shock Top IPA, Leffe, Brooklyn Brown, Abita Purple Haze, Blue Point Hoptical Illusion, Lonerider Sweet Josie, Natty Greene Old Town Brown, Fatty Maddy, Aviator Hotrod Red, Oskar Blues, New Belgium Fat Tire, and Carolina Strawberry.
Downhill racing will take place throughout the festival. The dual slalom amateur finals begin at 2:15 p.m., followed by dual slalom professional finals at 5:45 p.m.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate, with designated drivers admitted free. Advance tickets (with free parking) are available at: www.ticketssoeasy.com/bikesbrewsnviews.
