USASA Slopestyle – Competitive Skiing & Snowboarding in NC!

January 7, 2017

Slopestyle skiing and snowboarding back in NC?! Don’t miss the Southeastern Series!

USASA is proud to present the Southeastern Series! This event will bring back competitive skiing and snowboarding to the High Country after a 14 year hiatus! The first event on Saturday, January 7th and is a slopestyle ski/snowboard competition for all ages that will take place in Beech Mountain Resort’s new terrain park complete with handle pull town (this means you don’t have to hike the course). Slope style competition consists of a mix of jumps, hips, rails, boxes, as well as other features. Skiers and riders are scored by a panel of judges. Factors considered are difficulty of trick, execution (clean landings, etc.), style, & more. Dust off your bag of tricks & join us for a day in the park!

This is the very first USASA Southeastern Series event of this year and in Southeastern’s history. Please arrive ready to be positive, ski or snowboard with old & new friends, & be patient as we all work together to figure out the very best way to host this new event at Beech Mountain! Yes, this is a competition but first and foremost we want to have fun skiing and snowboarding and promote a positive environment in which all ages can learn and grow the snowsports we all love!

USASA History

Former amateur surf coach Chuck Allen incorporates the United States Amateur Snowboarding Association (USASA) in July of 1988 with a $500 donation from Transworld SNOWboarding Magazine. USASA is the first governing body exclusively for competitive grassroots snowboarding. The organizers believed that by forming a national association for snowboard competitors, rules of competition could be standardized, an annual national championship event could be established, and the recreation and fun of this rapidly growing sport could be preserved and flourish.
