80’s Ski Weekend at Beech Mountain Resort

Each February, the town of Beech Mountain and Beech Mountain Resort come together to create a righteously rad celebration of all things 1980s.  This unparalleled experience takes place Feb. 23-26 and includes – live 80s music nightly, retro skiing daily, and plenty of throwback activities in between.  Hop in our “ski slope time machine” to revisit the New Wave era of big hair, leg warmers, bandanas and Members Only jackets.  Oh yeah – don’t forget ski suits with shoulder pads!  Now in its sixth year, the weekend has become so epic we added a day.  You can now bend the space-time continuum for four days: Thurs., Feb. 23, through Sun., Feb. 26, 2017.

Schedule of Events: Thursday, February 23rd

All day – Retro skiing (wear your 80s apparel)

All Day – Totally Tubular 80’s Snowtubing (in the Resort Village)

5-9pm – $100 Ms. Pac Man contest at Beech Alpen Inn

6:30-8:30pm – 1980s Trivia Night at Beech Mountain Brewing Co.

8:30pm – Rockzilla – retro 80’s band at Famous Fast Eddie’s (restaurant & bar just before the resort entrance)

Friday, February 24th

All day – Retro skiing (wear your best neon 80s onesie)

All day – Totally Tubular 80’s Snowtubing

4:00pm – 80’s Ski Apparel Parade open to all (meet at the top of the slopes at 3:45)

5-8pm – Youth Cosmic Sledding on Town of Beech Mountain’s Sledding Hill (free)

5-9pm – $100 Ms. Pac Man contest continues at Beech Alpen Inn

6-8:30pm – Retro 80’s Karaoke Contest at Beech Mountain Brewing Co.

Whitney? Madonna? Prince? Cyndi Lauper? Who can you do best for 80’s karaoke?!

6-8:30pm – Newgrass Brewing Co. Tap Takeover at Beech Mountain Brewing Co. – come sample delicious craft beer from Shelby, NC and enjoy the free entertainment that is Karaoke Night!

9:00pm – Cassette Rewind (retro 80’s cover band) $5 cover @ at Mile High Tavern (near the entrance to the resort, next door to Fast Eddie’s)

Saturday, Feb. 25th

All day – Retro skiing (wear your 80’s apparel)

All day – Totally Tubular 80’s Snowtubing

9am – 2pm – FREE Rossignol ski demo booth in the village

10am – 4pm – Retro show cars in the Village

11am- 4pm – Old School DJ at 5506′ Skybar

12:00pm – Beech Mountain Banked Slalom ski & snowboard race on Robbin’s Run

Registration at The Beech Tree from 9am – 11am (in the village, next to the Quad chair), racing starts at noon!

Afternoon – 80’s DJ on patio of Beech Tree Bar & Grille

2:00pm – $100 Hot Tub Time Machine Trivia Contest at the Beech Tree Bar & Grille

3-5:00pm – $100 Ms. Pac Man contest continues at Beech Alpen Inn (final day)

4:30pm – $100 Rubik’s Cube contest @ Beech Mountain Brewing Co.

7:30pm – The Breakfast Club band at The Beech Tree Bar & Grille ($10 cover)

9:00pm – $500 Totally Retro Apparel Contest @ The Beech Tree Bar & Grille

$500 up for grabs for best 80’s costume! What could be better than going back in time AND winning money?!

10:00pm – The Breakfast Club returns to the stage at The Beech Tree for another set of awesome 80’s covers!

11:30pm – Late night 80’s Dance Party!

All night – Free photo booth at The Beech Tree Bar & Grille

Sunday, Feb. 26th 

All day – Retro skiing (wear your 80’s apparel, the brighter the better!)

All day – Totally Tubular 80’s Snowtubing

1pm-3pm – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on the big screen at Beech Mountain Brewing Co.
