yoga @ highest bar and restaurant in the High Country

Whether you are staying on Beech Mountain or in Banner Elk, why not come up to 5506′ for some Vinyasa yoga? Actually, no matter where you are, it is certainly worth a visit to Beech Mountain Resort for yoga at the highest bar and restaurant in the High Country! Every Saturday, for the remainder of Beech Mountain Resort’s summer season, yoga will continue on the deck of 5506′. The views of the Appalachian Mountains are unparalleled and now is the time to get your “zen on” – there is no better spot than here.

Begin your day with a scenic lift ride. As you ascend the mountain, wildlife and vistas will captivate your spirit. Once on the deck of 5506′, you will be mesmerized with the ancient ranges that span the North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee portions of the Appalachian Mountains. A sense of calm and peace will overcome you just because of the environment that surrounds you. Once the class begins, it is assured that local yogi extraordinaire, Jenna Thompson, will help soothe your mind, body, and soul as she leads you through the practice of Vinyasa.

After the one hour session, stay for lunch and drinks at the highest bar and restaurant in the high country. Handcrafted Beech Mountain Brewing Co. beer is on tap, as well as a wide selection of mixed drinks and a variety of wines. The food options have expanded since last summer and patrons are complimenting the quality and taste. Pull up an Adirondack chair and take in the moment; let your senses be consumed by the glory that surrounds you.

Once you have had your fill, the descent on the chair lift is spectacular. The ride down Beech Mountain Resort’s scenic chair lift ride is a must on your list of things to do. During the skiing and snowboarding season, the chairlift ride is one way only, so take the opportunity to relish in this experience this while you can. The vistas are breath-taking and the ride on the upgraded Quad is soothing. At the conclusion of the ride, swing by the brewery in the Alpine Village and sample the large variety of handcrafted beers that are available and inquire about the magic of brewing beer at Beech Mountain Brewing Co. The entire experience is sure to please.

Yoga classes are every Saturday for the remainder of the summer season as listed:

August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, & 29th

September 5th, 12th, 19th, & 26th

Classes are on Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am. The cost of class is $15 which includes a lift ticket. Lift tickets can be purchased in Ski Beech Sports, located in the resort village. Grab a lift ride by 10:15! Yoga mats are limited, so please bring your own. It is also a good idea to bring a jacket or sweatshirt as the elevation of 5, 506 feet often brings cooler temperatures.
