Snowshoe Race is Canceled

The snowshoe race has been cancelled.

On Saturday, January 12th, 2012, Beech Mountain is proud to announce that it will play host to the 2013 North Carolina State Championship Snowshoe Race. This is a sanctioned race and will serve as a National Qualifier for the 2013 Dion National Championships to be held in Bend, Oregon on March 15th through the 17th, 2013. The race will be held with or without snow in the beautiful Emerald Outback on Beech Mountain. This unique trail system boasts a wide range of trail difficulty, a fantastic blend of single and double track trails and gravel roads, and gorgeous long range views, all nestled above 4700 feet in elevation, making it the highest adventure trail park on the east coast.

If Mother Nature does not supply snow, the race will go on. It will be held as a winter trail run, if trail conditions permit. A minimum of 6 inches of natural snowfall are required for snowshoes to be utilized safely. There will be limited snowshoes available for demo only, so participants are strongly encouraged to bring their own snowshoes or arrange for rentals prior to race weekend.
